Phones, eSIMs and Internet in Bermuda: Best Options for Visitors and New Residents

Getting connected is one of the first things you’ll do in Bermuda. Visitors need data from the moment they land. New residents need a local number for landlords, banks and employers, and broadband at home. These are the main options with prices from the providers’ own sites.
For visitors: the One Communications Tourist eSIM
One Communications (OneComm) sells a Tourist eSIM. You buy it online, receive it by email, and it activates when your phone first connects to the One network in Bermuda (onecomm.bm).
| Plan | Price | Data |
|---|---|---|
| 1 day | $5 | 1GB |
| 3 days | $7 | 2GB |
| 7 days | $20 | 5GB |
| 30 days | $50 | 25GB |
Every plan includes a local Bermuda number, unlimited calls and texts within Bermuda, and international calls at $0.75/min and texts at $0.25 each (onecomm.bm).
Things to know, according to OneComm:
- Your phone must support eSIM and be unlocked. Dial
*#06#: if an EID appears, your phone supports eSIM. - You need Wi-Fi to download and activate the eSIM.
- If you use up your data, the whole pack expires, including the free local calls and texts. Top up online or by dialling #8255.
- You can reuse the eSIM on later trips if you top up every 90 days.
- Plans are non-refundable once activated.
International eSIM apps
Global eSIM providers also sell Bermuda data packs that run on local networks. If you’d rather set everything up before you leave home, compare an international eSIM such as Airalo (affiliate link) against OneComm’s prices above. OneComm’s packs include a local number and local calls, which many data-only eSIMs don’t.
Roaming on your UK plan
UK networks charge their own roaming rates for Bermuda. Check your network’s price list before you travel. Some charge daily fees that are much higher than a local eSIM.
For residents: monthly mobile plans
Paradise Mobile publishes these monthly prices, “all fees included” (paradisemobile.bm):
| Plan | Price/month | In Bermuda | Abroad |
|---|---|---|---|
| Atlas | $193 | Paradise’s top plan. See its site for the full inclusions | Includes travel features |
| Ace | $153 | Unlimited high-speed data and local calls, calls to 30+ countries | Talk, text and 12GB high-speed data (then slower) in 5+ countries |
| Data Freedom | $103 | Unlimited high-speed data and local calls, calls to 10+ countries | No connectivity abroad |
| Essentials | $73 | 10GB high-speed then slower, unlimited local calls | No connectivity abroad |
Paradise says it offers eSIM activation (paradisemobile.bm). One Communications also sells prepaid and postpaid plans for residents. Compare its current offers on onecomm.bm.
For context, Numbeo’s crowd-sourced average for a mobile plan with calls and 10GB+ data in Hamilton is about $148 a month (numbeo.com).
Which plan?
- You’ll fly home often: a plan with roaming built in (like Ace or Atlas) may save on travel eSIMs.
- You rarely travel: Data Freedom or Essentials.
- Kids or light users: Essentials.
Home internet
One Communications advertises FibreWire home fibre at $130 a month for 500 Mbps (onecomm.bm). Numbeo’s average for 60 Mbps+ unlimited broadband is about $160 a month (numbeo.com). When you view a rental, ask:
- Is internet included in the rent?
- Is the property already connected to fibre?
- How long does installation take?
If you’re on Permission to Reside and working remotely, reliable broadband matters. Check it before you sign a lease.
Keep your UK number
UK banks often send security codes by text. Losing your UK number can lock you out of accounts. Options:
- Keep your UK SIM on a cheap UK SIM-only plan in a dual-SIM phone (physical SIM plus eSIM).
- Port your UK number to a low-cost UK provider, and only turn on roaming when you need a code.
- Switch your banks to app-based authentication where you can, before you go.
Check your UK network’s roaming charges for receiving texts in Bermuda.
Setup checklist
Before you fly
- Unlock your phone (ask your UK network)
- Check eSIM support (
*#06#shows an EID) - Buy a Tourist eSIM or international eSIM
- Move your UK banks to app authentication
First weeks as a resident
- Choose a monthly plan (compare Paradise and OneComm)
- Give your local number to your employer, bank and landlord
- Arrange home internet. A recent internet bill can also prove your address for public school registration.
